Cap' Decouvert

Are you a daredevil or just curious for something new and different? How does a 1,600 acre park jam-packed with action sports, music and fun sound to you?

Cap'Découverte, the only site of its kind in Europe, is located in a disused open-pit coalmine that's been reconverted into a gigantic leisure centre featuring a spectacular amphitheatre 1,300 meters in diameter and 230 meters deep, entirely dedicated to fun!

You could try your hand on the toboggans, Giant Zip-line, mountain bikes, Skate park,  Mini kart, or simply spend time in the swimming pool, Mining Museum or Titan Park.

Golf Courses

Albi has one of the finest golf courses in France. Play on 18 championship standard holes surrounded by water and take in the stunning views and food that is served in the on-site restaurant and hotel. You can also play in Marssac & Gaillac - 25 mins away.

Other things to do

Canoeing

The Aveyron flows through beautiful wooded gorges. Canoeing is one of the few ways to truly appreciate the beauty of these wild gorges and take in the magical surroundings. The river is made up of many rapids accessible to all. Depending on your technical level and the water conditions at the time there is the option of a more challenging course with rapids at Najac or a calmer and flatter route near St Antonin. Both sites are within a 25 minute drive from Cordes sur Ciel

Medieval towns and villages

Les Moulines is situated in an area surrounded by Bastides (medieval hill top towns and villages). Cordes sur Ciel won the coveted 'Most loved town in France' in 2014 and there are many others well worth the trip out to see. These include Najac, Puycelci, Penne, Albi, St Antonin, Castlenau de Montmiral and many more. Pictures of some of these places can be seen below.

Walking/Hiking and Horseriding

Located in the Midi-Pyrenees and along the same gorges and surrounding areas are many walking routes. Horse riding is available at both Najac and Saint Antonin near the canoeing centres. There are also other local equestrian facilities.

Wine Tasting and Vineyard Tours

Although the Gaillac region is not well known, it offers some of the best tasting wines in France. Ian and Judy will be happy advise you on some of their favourite local wines of the area and can strongly recommend the following vineyards:-

  • Clos Rocailleux
  • Domaine Barreau
  • Mas Pignou
  • Domaine Gayrard
  • Chateau de Saurs
  • Chateau Montels
  • Chateau Bourget
  • Mas d'Aurel

We will be more than happy to assist in setting up visits and tastings during your stay.

Toulouse

If you are flying to the South of France then you will be more than likely to fly in to Toulouse. This city offers many activities and sites to see but the Cite de l'espace is well worth a look
